20 son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

Being Wise With Our Eyes

Today Hooty  the owl is excited because our lesson has to do with being wise with our eyes.  Notice hooty has very big eyes.  Hooty has been looking  at these few verses for us to read today:

Proverbs 6:20-21
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

God has given you parents and teachers who love you very much. You should love and appreciate them because they are given to you to help guide you through life and train you for becoming the person God wants you to be.  Every day we are surrounded by many things that can be harmful to our hearts.  We want to love the Lord with all our hearts and avoid anything that will hinder our relationship with him.  First of all we will be learning about how we need to keep our eyes away from things that will harm our heart.

It's very important for  young people like you to  remember God puts parents in your lives to protect you.  Sometimes adults have to face things we know are wrong in in order to protect you from harm.  There are many dangers in the world that the devil can use to pull you away from God.

One of the ways Satan can get a stronghold on people is through what we see.  It is very important that we do not allow evil things to be something we want to see.  You should hate them because they hurt you and they hurt other people.  They cause a stain on your heart that will hinder your future.  Not only that, but it could become a part of who you are and rob you of many blessings.  It could pull you away from being everything God wants you to be.

In the Bible there was a King named King Solomon.  God blessed him with great wisdom.  God blessed him with both mental and spiritual wisdom.  He could of asked God for riches but  God blessed Him beyond riches because He desired being wise above all else.  Solomon was used by God to give us the Proverbs in the scripture.  He teaches us  to love wisdom and to wear it like a necklace where ever we go.  We are taught wise things through our parents and through the Bible.

One of our memory verses we will be learning from the Proverbs is Proverbs 4:23 which say:   Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.  God is telling us to protect our heart and to keep it clean by reading his Word and confessing our sin.  God's Word tells us if we confess our sins He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

When you go to the grocery store avoid looking at anything that would make your thoughts displease God.  God knows that what we see can control our thought pattern.   When you are young ,you are becoming who you are going to be when you grow up. You need to make a decision to be faithful to know God's greatest blessing for your life.   When you are on the internet  you need to keep in a safe area where your thoughts will not be corrupted by evil.  When you watch television you need to refuse to watch things you know God would hate.  When you play games or go to someone else's house you need to  be very careful not to give in to looking at something that is bad.  We are living in a day that evil things are being accepted as good and they are getting harder and harder to avoid.  As children of God we are to live by what God says is good.

God teaches us in Proverbs 4:25 - We are to control where our eyes look.  It says:  Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.  He's telling you not to get distracted by what you see.  He wants your attention on what will please Him and that's keeping your thoughts and desires on right things.  God doesn't want us to become unhappy wanting what everybody else has.  He wants us to see what He's given us and be thankful for his provision to us.  Sometimes we may want things simply by looking at them.  God wants us to be content with what He has provided to us.

We as children of God need to hate sin and hate what sin does to other people.  It is a wise thing to keep our hearts hidden and protected in Christ Jesus.  Through daily bible study, prayer and resistance to sin by obeying our Lord in faith.  In doing so we will be becoming a person of wisdom.

Father God,  Help us each day to be mindful that what we look at can impact our whole lives.  Please help each young person to be continually mindful that what they see can hurt who they become as people.  what we keep our focus on is what is most likely what's most important to us.  Help each one of us keep our focus on pleasing you and loving you with our whole hearts.   I pray that you will bless these young people with your power and your wisdom in each action and motive.

I pray in Christ name, Amen
