I was thinking today What does the Light of the World
mean? We know it is not the Sun that rises in the morning. We know
it is not the stars or the moon. We have lamps and lights along the
roadsides and outside of our homes but they are not the light that God is
talking about. We could be standing outside amidst the beautiful
sparkling lights of Christmas time on a snowy glimmering night and still be in
darkness.
But on the other hand, if we were out upon a lonely deep
blue sea without one flicker of light on the darkest time of night, if a storm
was raging but there was no light to lead us, what would be our fate?
That's why they built lighthouses and put lights out along the edges of the
waters. They put them there to help us make it back where we need to
be.When God talks about the light of
the World it’s not all the lights we see here.Many times, people will use the lighthouse to illustrate, that God sent
a light to save us from perishing.Perishing is another word for near-death, dying, or in danger of dying in their sins.Without God, we are like the storm-tossed ship out on a lonely dark
night with no hope.People who give you
the truth of God’s Word are like lighthouses that lead people to salvation. Just as a storm-tossed
vessel, that needs to find it’s way back or otherwise they would perish in the
sea.
A couple years ago our family went pontooning for our
vacation.We stayed out later than we
should have.We realized we didn’t have a
light to lead us back to the dock.We
did not have enough light to safely find where to dock. Our daughter and
our grandchildren stayed at the house while we were gone.So, our daughter came out with her cellphone
all lit up.Our daughter stood there
with the light until we made it safely to our dock.Once again, this story pictures what we as
Christians are to do, when people cannot find their way.They can not find the Way unless we shine the
light.Thank goodness our daughter was
thoughtful enough to come out with a light for us.We could see that little light shine and we
found our way back.
Christmas is a tool that has led people to the true light of
Christmas.The Light of the World.Without Jesus, we are in darkness.But when we believe, with all our heart - the
day-star arises in our heart.The only
way we can know that light is when Jesus puts it there.
Jesus is the light that shineth in the darkness and seeks to
save those who are lost.
"Come to the light tis shining for thee." Merry Christmas
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which
was lost.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he

Make a poster board-sized game board. If you print 4 regular sizes
Arrange them onto a posterboard.
Toss a penny or pebble from a determined distance.
What it lands on is the points available for them to earn on their turn.
Double Challenge - Double whatever your last score was. The activity challenge is whatever you (the teacher) choose. If they answer the review question correctly they do the challenge and then they earn double what their last score was. (example) have them say - I will use my manners - 10 times) or ( Pick up 3 toys and put them in the toybox.)

Thoughts About Thanksgiving Yesterday and Today
God wants us to be thankful, not just thankful but
thankful to him. Thank him for every moment
you have to be with your family. Love
them and cherish them because you never know if it will be the last day to express
your love to them. Thanksgiving is nearing and set aside as a day to thank
God. We thank God for family.
When the pilgrims settled into this country, they
seriously lost family members to the flu and other illnesses. They went through great hardship but yet they
gathered together after losing people that they loved to give thanks to
God. God had provided a beautiful
amount of food and new friends. Friends
who were different than they were yet they gathered together to worship God. Some of them lost a mother, some a husband,
some a sister, some a brother, some another.
They grieved but did not forget to give thanks for each other and all
God's mercy and supplements. God basically
gave them enough food for a feast. More
so than they could possibly eat. They
began a new life, in a new place. It was
like being in another world to them.
I wonder how many of us feel the same way. Covid has changed everything, it seems as
though the devil has gotten some foothold through it all. You
know the devil lives off of fear, off of anger and bitterness.
We need to remember to thank God for our family and all
God’s blessings. We need to be thankful
for our country, which has been able to freely worship God for centuries. We need to pray that the devil won’t get a
stronghold on our country. God does amazing
things when we praise him, he has answered many a prayer that has included
praise but God wants us to get our hearts right in order to accept that
praise. We can’t have hatred in our
hearts for our brothers and sisters in the Lord or in our families. The bible says he will not hear our prayers
if we regard iniquity in our hearts.
As we gather together as families to honor our Lord. It’s not just about the feast, but all about
our God who watches over us, who says, that the rocks will cry out in praise to
him if there is a refusal to praise him.
We thank thee our Father,
for all these things. Our family, to
love and to hold. Our home, in which we find rest. Our friends in whom you have
given. The food, clothing, and physical needs that you have supplied from year
to year, now and in the future. Thank you,
Lord God, for your loving-kindness to us. Thank you for dying for our sins and forgiving all those who trust in
you. Mostly Thank-you for you! Lord God, thank you for being here for us, to
comfort us when our hearts are broken, or to joy with us when we rejoice. Thank you for always being here with us even through our tears.
Thanksgiving Day is a day to celebrate your blessings to
us and you are our greatest blessing forever and always. Amen

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
There are a lot of things in this world we could weep about, but the bible does tell us to weep with them that weep. Not only that, the shortest verse in the bible comes to mind. Jesus wept. Jesus felt compassion for his friends who had lost loved ones. He wept with those who wept.

I'm going to read these questions to my class without giving the answers
Then I'm going to tell them the bible story about Lazarus.
WE are reading through it and discussing it. Remind them that they are going to be quizzed
at the end of our lesson with the review questions.
John 11:1-2
Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless, let us go unto him.
Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off: {about...: that is, about two miles}
And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, {was troubled: Gr. he troubled himself}
And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
Jesus wept.
Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
God comforts our hearts as Christians when we go through hard times like this. Jesus even wept over his friend's grief. People that trusted in Jesus cried over Lazarus's death. It is a natural thing for people to cry when someone we love dies. We miss people we love who have died and cry over it again and again. When you know Jesus you can tell God all about how you feel. When we are his he hears us always. Just like Jesus said in his prayer to God.
God wants people to believe and to be saved from their sins. That's why God allowed Lazarus to die.
Young people there is no mistake that God teaches us about death in the story of Lazarus. Jesus wants people to know that when we are born again. We become children of God and when we pray he hears us always. He is with us through the heartbreak just like the moon looking like it was crying. God heard Sherry cry.
Father God, I pray you will speak to hearts today. Show people that God wants people to believe and be saved from their sins. That is exactly what happened when Lazarus was raised from the dead. Many Jews were saved. They believe upon Christ as the Son of God. I pray Lord Jesus that people will trust you as Saviour today as they read this lesson. I pray that you will be glorified.
In Jesus name I pray this today. Amen
