Yonder, Way Back Then
By: Susan

2010
Mama sang a hymn.
Little angel sat
beside her:
With a happy grin.
Little angel colored
pictures:
for our Mother dear.
looked and saw her
grinning;
Grinning ear to ear.
Apple pie within the
oven;
Filled the air with
joy.
Little brother, He
made noises;
While he played with
toys.
Another loop within the ring;
One more stitch, to stitch.
Mothers hands were
always working;
Made us feel so rich.
Mama went to check
the pie;
Checked if it was done.
Then she called, it's time to eat;
All could hear us run.
Daddy prayed a prayer
of thanks;
Then He'd say, "dig in"
And that's the way it used to be;
Yonder, way back then.
