As The Sun Comes Shining Through

Malachi  1:11  (Prophecy Of Jesus As A Pure Sacrifice)

For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

As The Sun Shines Through

The last time I talked about sunflowers I told you how the sunflowers face the arising sun.  This time I want to talk about the reflection of the light from behind the sunflower as the sun is setting.  It's a most beautiful scene to see a field of sunflowers as the sun is setting in the distance.  We can enjoy seeing the sunflowers as the reflection shines from the back of its pedals.
I am reminded that each setting of the sun is a reminder that Christ died and every arising of the sun is a reminder that Christ arose from the dead.  All nature speaks of Christ and is a revelation of His majesty and power.  I believe God gave us nature to enjoy and to love, but not to worship.  Nature is another reason to praise Him, another way for us to explain to others how loving God is and how He operates in our lives.  Every living thing, every moving power of nature and every rock formed all point back to God our creator.
One of the things God expresses to us in scripture is to let our light shine.  He's talking about the light that He shines through us while we are trusting and living for Him.  We cannot shine the light that Christ is talking about until we have trusted in the death of Christ for us and also in His resurrection.   As I think about the setting and the arising of the sun, I think of the beautiful field full of sunflowers lit up by the light of the sun.
There are times in life as Christians we can feel alone even when there are many other  Christians around us.   There is one that we can always count on, one love we can always count on in life and in death.  See Christ can light up our lives even when the world seems so dark around us.  He can shine through us in our darkest moments.  Sometimes our darkest moment is the very moment another sees the light shining from us the most.
I think of Steven at his stoning, his darkest moment.  He never shined brighter than that
moment He cried out to God for those stoning him.  He never shined brighter than the moments his eyes looked up to heaven right before he died.   The Spirit of Christ shined from His life and also at his death.
The Bible teaches us, that those without Christ are living in darkness and their eyes are blinded.  Once we know Christ, He comes into our hearts and lives and the light of Christ begins to shine from our lives as we follow Him.  As we look to the light of His Word, seek the light of truth, and live in the light of His Word, Then His light reflects from us into a dark world.  Just as the light reflects across the horizon as night falls and lights up a sunflower field.
Hopefully, God will open your eyes this very day to the light He is shining for you.  God's desire is for you to come to the light.  The light is this,  Christ died for sinners like you and myself.  We didn't deserve it, nor could we ever repay it, it is a gift from heaven above, given in His sweet, sweet,  love for all mankind.  He arose and now we know, He can bring light to our own hearts as we believe upon Him, as we trust Him as our Saviour, as the one who paid what we could not pay, the debt for our sin.
Let us look to the light as we seek Him each day and as we bow our heads each night to pray.  That other people may see us shining in this dark, dark world and follow our Jesus as their Saviour and Lord. That they may find life in His marvelous light and be pulled from the powers of the unrighteous night.
Won't you trust Him today?

The Little Candle Said

The Little Candle Said

The candle said in the wind.

I’m just a tiny light, a light so small.

I’m not sure if anyone;

Could see to get around with me at all.

I would be a guiding light.

If I were a star up in the night sky.

To those who are lost in sin.

Shining for Jesus as the time goes by.

I would shine upon the day.

Our trembling Savior drew his last breath.

The lightning flashed ‘cross the sky;

The elements grieved at our Savior’s death.

Jesus was dead, with bowed head.

He had no life, no thought, and no heartbeat.

Screams were heard in the darkness.

The earth shook and opened beneath their feet.

The candle said to the sky.

I’m just a tiny light, a light so small.

I’m not sure if anyone;

Could see to get around with me at all.

I would be a guiding light.

If I were a star up in the night sky.

To those who are lost in sin.

Shining for Jesus as the time goes by.

I would shine upon the day.

The angel rolled the stone from the tomb’s door.

To see that it was empty.

Now in Christ, there is life forevermore.

In the presence of angels.

Mary and others, their joy could be heard.

Jesus arose from the dead.

They ran to tell the others the good word.

Many miracles happened.

Many Saints arose from the open graves.

The unbelieving believed.

They were saved on that day, thank God, Jesus saves.

The candle said to the land.

I’m just a tiny light, a light so small.

I’m not sure if anyone;

Could see to get around with me at all.

I would be a guiding light.

If I were a star up in the night sky.

To those who are lost in sin.

Shining for Jesus as the time goes by.

Where I am needed, I’ll be.

I would give light in a place without light.

Not me, but Jesus they’ll see.

For his light is the light that will shine through me.

Then the little candle sang.

“This light of mine, I’m going shine for you.

Jesus’ help me give more light.

Help me, help others always see you.

The little candle was shining all along.

I changed the song to say Mary and others.  The bible does not say Martha was there.  I'm not going to change the audio.  If you would like for me to change it, let me know and I will change it.

Luke 24:10  It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. (Martha could have been there)

Matthew 28:1-19

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.   His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

  Matthew 27: 50-54

Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

The Light Of The World

The Light Of The World

I was thinking today What does the Light of the World mean?  We know it is not the Sun that rises in the morning.  We know it is not the stars or the moon.  We have lamps and lights along the roadsides and outside of our homes but they are not the light that God is talking about.  We could be standing outside amidst the beautiful sparkling lights of Christmas time on a snowy glimmering night and still be in darkness.

But on the other hand, if we were out upon a lonely deep blue sea without one flicker of light on the darkest time of night, if a storm was raging but there was no light to lead us, what would be our fate?  That's why they built lighthouses and put lights out along the edges of the waters.  They put them there to help us make it back where we need to be.   When God talks about the light of the World it’s not all the lights we see here.  Many times, people will use the lighthouse to illustrate, that God sent a light to save us from perishing.  Perishing is another word for near-death, dying, or in danger of dying in their sins. Without God, we are like the storm-tossed ship out on a lonely dark night with no hope.  People who give you the truth of God’s Word are like lighthouses that lead people to salvation.  Just as a storm-tossed vessel, that needs to find it’s way back or otherwise they would perish in the sea.

A couple years ago our family went pontooning for our vacation.  We stayed out later than we should have.  We realized we didn’t have a light to lead us back to the dock.  We did not have enough light to safely find where to dock.  Our daughter and our grandchildren stayed at the house while we were gone.  So, our daughter came out with her cellphone all lit up.  Our daughter stood there with the light until we made it safely to our dock.  Once again, this story pictures what we as Christians are to do, when people cannot find their way.  They can not find the Way unless we shine the light.  Thank goodness our daughter was thoughtful enough to come out with a light for us.  We could see that little light shine and we found our way back.

Christmas is a tool that has led people to the true light of Christmas.  The Light of the World.  Without Jesus, we are in darkness.  But when we believe, with all our heart - the day-star arises in our heart.  The only way we can know that light is when Jesus puts it there.

Jesus is the light that shineth in the darkness and seeks to save those who are lost.

"Come to the light tis shining for thee."   Merry Christmas

Jesus Wept Too

I asked permission to write about Sherry.

Comfort the Widow

We can send a greeting card.
We can help 'round her yard.
We can give her a big hug.
Pray with her to God above.

We can stop and say hello.
Take her where she wants to go.
Write a poem that is sweet.
Bring her something good to eat.

If one day you see her weep.
We should weep with those who weep.
You should say yes mam to her.
Respect and honor her words.

Always show your love and care
and try to always be there.
Give a helping hand if she
Seems to have a special need.

Be a friend when it is hard.
When you feel that you're on guard.
Sometimes anger can be there.
When it seems like no one cares.

Give her a call on the phone.
Remember she is alone.
Listening is important.
Be a friend who is heaven-sent.

Be there, just be there and pray.
Help her through another day.
Be there, Just be there because;
She needs to know that she's loved.

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

 Romans 12:15
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

There are a lot of things in this world we could weep about, but the bible does tell us to weep with them that weep.  Not only that, the shortest verse in the bible comes to mind.  Jesus wept.  Jesus felt compassion for his friends who had lost loved ones.  He wept with those who wept.

Have a child remove one word.
Say the verse together.
Proceed until all the words are gone.
They should be able to say the verse by the end of this game

I'm going to read these questions to my class without giving the answers
Then I'm going to tell them the bible story about Lazarus.
WE are reading through it and discussing it.  Remind them that they are going to be quizzed
at the end of our lesson with the review questions.

John 11:1-2
Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless, let us go unto him.
Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off: {about...: that is, about two miles
And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, {was troubled: Gr. he troubled himself}
And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
 Jesus wept.
Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

God comforts our hearts as Christians when we go through hard times like this.   Jesus even wept over his friend's grief.  People that trusted in Jesus cried over Lazarus's death.  It is a natural thing for people to cry when someone we love dies.  We miss people we love who have died and cry over it again and again.  When you know Jesus you can tell God all about how you feel.  When we are his he hears us always.  Just like Jesus said in his prayer to God.

God wants people to believe and to be saved from their sins.  That's why God allowed Lazarus to die.

Young people there is no mistake that God teaches us about death in the story of Lazarus.  Jesus wants people to know that when we are born again.  We become children of God and when we pray he hears us always.  He is with us through the heartbreak just like the moon looking like it was crying.  God heard Sherry cry.

Father God, I pray you will speak to hearts today.  Show people that God wants people to believe and be saved from their sins.  That is exactly what happened when Lazarus was raised from the dead.  Many Jews were saved. They believe upon Christ as the  Son of God. I pray Lord Jesus that people will trust you as Saviour today as they read this lesson.  I pray that you will be glorified.
In Jesus name I pray this today.  Amen

Each Step - The Wise Men

If you are visiting today - I encourage you to read our featured post
on the right side of my blog - It's called "We Are Not Perfect"

The Power Of God's Word
Follow The Star

The story of the wise men happened after the birth of Christ.  They sought the child
Jesus who was already born.  They saw the star in the east that directed them to where the child was.

This past week I read a story to my class.  It was about a young girl who received a watch for Christmas.  She absolutely loved her new watch.  She thought it was one of the most beautiful things she ever owned.  It was not a toy watch it was a real one.  Her parents told her to be careful with it.  She promised she would be careful but one night she forgot to take it off in the shower.
She decided to avoid telling them and pretty much lied about it.  If she would have told the truth
they could have saved the watch.

We talked about sin.  I explained that lying is a sin and that stealing is a sin. Not obeying your parents is a sin.   The bible speaks of what sin is and teaches us that all have sinned.  The bible is God's Word.  God gives us direction on how to find Jesus.

An interesting thing is that my granddaughter received a watch for Christmas.  Most people do not use a watch anymore they use their phone.  She remembers the story from Sunday School about the watch.  She was sure to show it to me.   There is a time for everything under the sun.  It is about time we learn to follow Jesus by following His Word, the star that God has given us to follow.

In our Bible story, there are wise men seeking to find Jesus.  I put a star on my bible cover and held it up, then asked the children to follow the star as I walked around with my bible.   I was teaching them that God gave us a star for today. A star that we should follow.
The bible teaches us that God's Word is a light unto our path.  The bible leads people to Jesus.
It leads us to how to live for Jesus.  It also leads us to salvation through Christ Jesus.

We know that Jesus came into the world to save people from their sins. One because an angel of the Lord told Joseph in ....
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mary also confessed that Jesus was her Saviour:
Luke 1:46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

Joseph and Mary - knew that Jesus came to the world to save the world from their sin.

John 3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn
the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

God sent us the way of salvation for Christmas.

Jesus is the only way of Salvation.  When we say He's the only way of Salvation,
We mean, He's the only way for anyone to be saved from hell and the only way to heaven.

Jesus grew up and died for the sins of the world.
He died for my sins and he died for your sins.
That is why He came from heaven to us
on Christmas day.

Why did He do that?  Because God loves us and wants
us to go to heaven.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. (Heaven)

Are you seeking the Saviour, the wise men were.  It is very wise to
want to know Jesus and to make Him the most important part of your life.

Father God,
I pray for the children in my class today and all those hearing this lesson.  I pray that they believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour.  I pray that they will seek the Saviour.  Help them to understand
what Christmas is all about.  In Jesus's holy name, I pray this.  Amen
