Forgiveness and Forbearing Colossians 3:13

The Forbearing Gardener

In a small village nestled between rolling hills and lush forests, there lived an elderly gardener named Mr. Thompson. Known for his beautiful garden, Mr. Thompson spent his days tending to his flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees with great care and patience.

One summer, a group of mischievous children began to play near his garden. They often trampled his flowers and picked his fruits without permission. The villagers expected Mr. Thompson to scold the children or chase them away, but he did neither. Instead, he watched them with a gentle smile, his eyes twinkling with understanding.

One day, a particularly rambunctious boy named Tommy accidentally broke a branch off Mr. Thompson’s prized apple tree. The other children froze, expecting Mr. Thompson to finally lose his temper. But the old gardener simply walked over, knelt beside Tommy, and said softly, “Accidents happen, my boy. Let’s fix this together.”

Tommy, surprised by the gardener’s kindness, helped Mr. Thompson mend the broken branch. Over time, the children began to respect the garden and the man who cared for it. They learned to ask before picking fruits and to tread carefully among the flowers.

Years passed, and the children grew up, but they never forgot the lessons of patience and forgiveness they learned from Mr. Thompson. The garden flourished, not just because of the gardener’s skill, but because of his forbearing nature that nurtured not only plants but also young hearts.
