When the Accuser Speaks

“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”

🌿 Devotion: 

      “When the Accuser Speaks, Christ Speaks Louder”

There are moments in every Christian’s life when the enemy whispers accusations — reminders of past failures, fears about the future, or lies about our worth. Scripture calls Satan “the accuser of our brethren” because he seeks to discourage and divide. Yet the Word also reveals something far greater: Jesus Christ stands as our Advocate, our Defender, and our Peace. When the accuser speaks, Christ speaks louder. His voice is the voice of truth, mercy, and unfailing love.

During World War II, a young British soldier named Thomas found himself overwhelmed by fear. After a brutal night of bombing, he sat alone in a trench, trembling, convinced he was a coward and a failure. He later wrote that the enemy outside wasn’t the only one attacking him — the enemy within whispered, “You’re not brave enough. You’re not strong enough. God can’t use someone like you.” But in that cold, muddy trench, Thomas remembered a verse his mother taught him as a boy: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” He said that as he repeated that verse, something shifted. The accusations didn’t disappear, but they lost their power. God’s Word rose higher.

Thomas survived the war, but more importantly, he learned a truth every believer must hold: courage is not the absence of fear — it is the presence of Christ. The enemy accuses, but Jesus strengthens. The enemy condemns, but Jesus restores. The enemy reminds us of our weakness, but Jesus reminds us of His strength. Like Thomas, we may face moments when the battle around us is fierce and the battle within us feels even fiercer. Yet the same God who met a trembling soldier in a trench meets us in our moments of doubt.

In our Christian walk, we must learn to answer accusation with truth. When the enemy says, “You are alone,” God says, “I will never leave thee.” When the enemy says, “You have failed,” God says, “My grace is sufficient.” When the enemy says, “You are unworthy,” God says, “You are Mine.” The Christian life is not lived by perfection but by dependence — daily leaning on the One who silences every lie with His love.

May we walk today with the confidence that Christ is our Advocate, our Shepherd, and our Shield. The accuser may speak, but he does not have the final word. Jesus does. And His word over you is mercy, strength, and everlasting love.

🙏 Prayer: “When Christ Speaks Over Us”

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You with grateful hearts, thankful that in every season of life You are our Light, our Salvation, and our Defender. When the enemy whispers accusations, You speak truth. When fear rises like a storm, You calm our spirits with Your presence. Teach us to listen for Your voice above every other, and to rest in the assurance that we are held by Your unfailing love.

Lord Jesus,

You are our Advocate and our Strength. When we feel weak, remind us that Your grace is enough. When we feel unworthy, remind us that we are Yours. When we face battles within or battles around us, stand with us as You stood with Your children throughout history — steady, faithful, and mighty to save. Help us walk with courage, not because we are strong, but because You are with us.

Holy Spirit,

Fill our hearts with peace that silences every lie. Guard our minds from discouragement. Lift our eyes to the promises of Scripture, just as You lifted the heart of that young soldier in the trench. Let Your Word rise within us when we are afraid, and let Your comfort surround us when we feel alone. Shape us into people who trust You deeply and follow You faithfully.

Father, we ask that You help us remember this truth:

The accuser may speak, but he does not have the final word. Jesus does. And His word over us is mercy, strength, and everlasting love. May we walk in that confidence today, tomorrow, and all our days.

Lazarus Come Forth Relay

Supplies Needed: 

1. A Large Box - Big enough to get inside of.  The box needs to sit on its side - opened.  It represents the grave.

2. The strongest toilet paper you can find. Or use paper towels.

- You could have more than one box if you want each team to arise from the grave. 

- Select teams, each team can consist of two or more depending on your class.  

The Object Of The Game.

- To come in first place wrapping your teammate in (toilet paper) grave clothes and help your teammate into the box. (the Tomb).  At which time your team leader will "Comand Lazarus To Come Forth".

Lazarus Arises ( From The Box) Then they tear off his graveclothes.

You could end the game there or let each team go through all the steps.

They all get rewarded for participation.

 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?

 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
