Each Puppet Person Gets a Copy with Their Part Circled in Their Individual Color. That Way They Know What They Need to Read Over.

[Smiling, welcoming tone]

“Welcome, everyone, to our Harvest Celebration — and the very first performance of… The Thankful Tree! 🌳✨

We’re so glad you’re here. Today is all about joy, laughter, and remembering the blessings God gives us — even the little ones we sometimes forget. You’ll meet some very silly puppets, hear some jokes, and learn how thankfulness can grow like a tree — one leaf at a time.

Now, before we begin, each of you should have a special leaf — your Harvest Blessing Leaf. 🍂
This is where you’ll write or draw something you’re thankful for. It could be a person, a moment, a gift, or even something funny that made you smile. When the puppets finish their story, we’ll invite you to come up and hang your leaf on our Thankful Tree.

Because when we give thanks — even in hard times — we’re doing exactly what God wants for us.
Just like it says in the Bible:

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18

So get ready to laugh, learn, and celebrate the blessings all around us.

Narrator: Welcome, friends, to the orchard of blessings, where the wind carries whispers of gratitude and the trees remember every thankful heart. Today, we gather around the Thankful Tree — not just to admire its beauty, but to fill it with our own stories. 

📖 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Lady Leaf (floating in gracefully): I’ve danced through seasons and seen many things. But the most beautiful sight? A heart that remembers. Today, we gather not just to say thanks — but to become thanks. 

📖 “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” (Psalm 136:1)

Sir Squirrel (bounding in): Become thanks? That sounds nutty! I thought we were just here to eat pie and play games! 

📖 “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)

Pumpkin Pete (rolling in slowly): I’m thankful for the farmer who didn’t toss me aside when I grew lopsided. He saw something special in me. Sometimes blessings come in odd shapes.

 📖 “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise… and the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” (1 Corinthians 1:27)

Crowley the Crow (flapping in with flair): Odd shapes? You’re looking at the king of odd! I’m thankful for laughter — especially when I trip over my own feet and everyone still claps. 

📖 “Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.” (Psalm 126:2)

Miss Apple (twirling in): I’m thankful for kindness. For the little girl who picked me gently and said, “You’re beautiful,” even though I had a bruise. 

📖 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

Lady Leaf (gently): Let’s not forget the deeper things. I’m thankful for memories — for the grandmother who sang hymns while stirring soup, for the prayers whispered under moonlight, for the stories passed down like seeds. 

📖 “One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.” (Psalm 145:4)

Narrator: And so, each friend brought their blessing to the tree. But the tree had something to say too — not with words, but with leaves. 📖 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” (Proverbs 11:30)

(Children are invited to come forward and hang their blessings on the tree — each leaf representing a prayer, a memory, or a gift.)

Pumpkin Pete: Look how full it’s getting! Every leaf is a story. Every story is a seed. 

📖 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)

Miss Apple: And every seed can grow into kindness, joy, or even a new tree. 

📖 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.” (Galatians 5:22)

Crowley: I’m planting a joke leaf. It says, “Why did the apple stop in the middle of the road? Because it ran out of juice!” 

📖 “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” (Ecclesiastes 3:4)

Sir Squirrel: I’m planting a leaf that says, “Thank You, God, for giving me energy — and snacks.”

 📖 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Lady Leaf: I’ll plant a leaf that says, “Thank You for the ones who came before me — and the ones who will come after.

” 📖 “Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.” (Proverbs 17:6)

Narrator: And so the Thankful Tree stood tall, not because of its branches, but because of the hearts that gathered beneath it. And if you listen closely, you’ll hear it whisper: “Thank you.” 

📖 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” (Psalm 103:2)

🙏 Closing Prayer (spoken by or Narrator)

"Lord, we thank You for laughter, for legacy, for every leaf of love You’ve given. Help us be blessings to others — not just today, but always. May our hearts be trees that grow kindness, joy, and faith. Amen."

📖 “Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:7)

Paper Puppets Needed:

You could apply a stick to each picture if you wanted.  We just held the pictures up and read the script as a group.

“Wasn’t that wonderful? 🌳✨ Our puppets reminded us that thankfulness can grow like a tree — one blessing at a time. And look at our Thankful Tree now, filled with leaves of gratitude from each of you.

Remember, God’s Word says:

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18, KJV

So as you go home tonight, keep looking for blessings — big and small. Share them with your family, write them down, or even draw them. Because when we give thanks, we shine God’s light in the world.

A Moose’s Tale—Both Serious and Slightly Antlered

🪵 From the Journal of M. Moose, Esq.

I was born beneath a canopy of pine so thick, even the sun had to ask permission to peek through. The forest tall, they call it. And let me tell you—it’s not just tall. It’s tricky. It’s tangled. It’s teeming with lessons.

🌲 Danger #1: The Branch That Whispers Lies

One day, I followed a trail of sweet-smelling berries. Thought I’d found paradise. Turns out, it was a trap laid by a raccoon with a flair for mischief and a questionable moral compass. Lesson: Not everything sweet is safe. Especially if it’s guarded by a raccoon named Gary.

🐻 Danger #2: The Bear With Boundary Issues

I tried to share a watering hole. He tried to share his roar. Lesson: Some creatures don’t want peace—they want space. And sometimes, saying “I’m sorry” means backing away slowly while maintaining eye contact.

🦉 Danger #3: The Owl Who Knows Too Much

He watches. He judges. He quotes Proverbs at midnight. Lesson: Wisdom is good. But unsolicited advice from a bird who never blinks? That’s a different sermon.

🌧️ Danger #4: The Storm That Doesn’t Ask First

One moment, I’m munching moss. The next, I’m a soggy, antlered lightning rod. Lesson: Life changes fast. Shelter matters. So does knowing which trees are less likely to fall on you.

🫢 Danger #5: The Silence That Feels Like Shame

Sometimes, I mess up. Trample a sapling. Snap a branch. Hurt a friend. The forest goes quiet. Lesson: The hardest part isn’t the mistake—it’s saying “I’m sorry.” But when I do, the forest sings again.

🕊️ Final Reflection from M. Moose

The forest tall is full of dangers. But it’s also full of grace. Every broken twig can be a lesson. Every muddy hoofprint can be a path back to peace. And every “I’m sorry” is a bridge—sometimes made of sticks, sometimes made of tears.

So if you ever find yourself lost in the forest tall, remember: Lift your head. Listen for grace. And don’t trust Gary the raccoon.

The Grace Tree Project Is About Jealousy and Forgiveness Youth to Adult

The Tree of Grace – Meaning & Purpose

At its core, the Tree of Grace represents growth, forgiveness, and the renewing power of God’s love. In contrast to envy, which eats away at our joy (Proverbs 14:30), this tree reminds us that we are rooted in grace—and called to grow in love.

Each leaf on the tree tells a story:

• A prayer of release (“Lord, help me let go of this jealousy…”)

• A praise report (“Today I celebrated someone else’s win!”)

• A Scripture promise (“Love envieth not.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4)

It becomes a living testimony wall—transforming envy into encouragement.

Here’s a visual representation of the Tree of Grace—

ready to be used as part of your dramatic reading or craft activity. 

Name Tag or Decorative

You can encourage participants to write something inside the leaf like:

• A jealousy they want to surrender

• A celebration of someone else’s success

• A prayer for a friend they once envied

• 
  

Option 1: As a Closing Activity after your “Green-Eyed Monster” drama or song, invite students to write on green leaf cutouts:

• Something they’re jealous of

• A prayer asking God to help Then, place the leaves onto a large tree drawn or posted on the wall.

Option 2: Ongoing Devotional Space Keep the Tree of Grace up during a series of lessons on character and faith. Let students add leaves anytime they experience growth, forgiveness, or contentment.

Option 3: Artistic Interpretation Turn it into a coloring poster or stained-glass craft—each leaf colored in as students reflect on biblical truths about jealousy, kindness, and grace.

The Missing Peace

When God made the rules of the garden there was only one rule.  The only rule

was not to eat of the forbidden fruit.  They had everything to be completely satisfied in life.  The serpent beguiled them and tricked them into believing a lie.  When they disobeyed the only rule of the garden.  The peace that they felt with God was gone. It was missing from that very moment.

Fear was immediate in their hearts and lives.  They were afraid of the punishment of God upon them.  This was the first time they ever felt fear, for the first time they knew they were naked before God.   The serpent convinced them that they would be like God, knowing both good and  evil.  Instead, they became sinners, while God remained sinless.

They immediately became sinners in need of salvation.

 

Death entered this world, at the disobedience of Adam and Eve.  Sin is such a serious thing to God, that sin required a blood sacrifice unto the Lord.  It was the first time a young he lamb without spot was sacrificed for a temporary covering.  It was the first time blood had been shed.  

God cursed them in their disobedience,  they would know pain, sorrow and sadness for the rest of their lives.  They would have to work to eat and to live.   God made them leave the perfect garden He made for them.   He also told them they could no longer eat of the tree of life and God sent angels to  guard it.

Adam and Eve made then a yearly sacrifice and continued to have a relationship with the Lord but it was not the same.  They still had happy times but they would also live with unhappy times.

Without God, there is no true peace of heart.  The peace that Adam and Eve knew with God would never really be the same as it was in the garden God made for them.

Adam and Eve looked forward to redemption's promise, through faith and we look back at the cross for our redemption through faith.  When Christ was crucified, as the perfect lamb of God, without spot (meaning sinless).  He died one time for all, no other covering, no other death sacrifice was required.  He finished at the cross what needed to be done.

Mankind is still missing peace, until we find the hope and joy of salvation in Christ alone.  Without Christ we cannot know the peace of God or be at peace with God.

When we find the missing piece, which is Christ for salvation, is when we  find the missing peace..  The peace that rules our hearts because of Christ in us.  The blessing of peace abides with us when we remain faithful in prayer and right living as children of God.

Dear Father In Heaven,

Be with each one here today, I pray you will open their hearts and their minds to your truth.

I pray they will find the peace that passes all understanding.  The forgiveness of Christ and rest of soul, that comes by knowing you.  Hold back the powers of Satan in their lives and bring the miracle of faith into their lives.  May they believe and trust you today as the only way of salvation.  In Christ name, I pray this, Amen.

Upon this day, will you trust Christ as your Saviour and Hero of your life?

What Kind Of Apples

If you were a tree;
of apples so bold;
What kind of apples;
would your tree limbs hold?

Would they be bitter;
Or would they be sweet?
Would your apples provide;
A nutritious treat?

Apples of goodness;
Filled with God's mercy?
Apples of pardon;
Grace for the thirsty?

In Jesus our tree;
Can bare joy divine.
Through trouble and trial;
Our Jesus would shine.

Apples of patience;
Longsuffering too.
What kind of apples;
Are falling from you?

Crab apples are green;
And bitter to eat.
Some apples are rotten;
and lay at ones feet.

A fruit bearing tree;
In Jesus I'm told.
Will bare sweet apples;
Sweet apples of gold.

Like honey they yield;
Providing the world.
With apples of goodness;
Produced by our Lord.
