Many people imagine Jesus as only soft, quiet, and mild. But Scripture gives us a fuller, richer picture. Jesus was both:
The Gentle Shepherd who carries the weak
The Righteous Lord who confronts the stubborn
These two sides are not opposites. They are perfectly united in Him.
When people came broken, ashamed, or seeking mercy, Jesus was tender:
He welcomed children
He touched lepers
He forgave sinners
He restored Peter
He comforted the fearful
Matthew 11:29 says:
“I am meek and lowly in heart.”
This is the Jesus who binds wounds, lifts the fallen, and carries the lambs close to His heart.
But when hearts were hard, proud, or hypocritical, Jesus confronted boldly.
He overturned tables, drove out money changers, and declared:
“My house shall be called the house of prayer.”
This wasn’t loss of control. This was holy zeal. This was righteous anger. This was love protecting what is sacred.
Jesus confronted religious leaders who refused to repent:
He exposed hypocrisy
He corrected false teaching
He warned of judgment
He called them to repentance
This was not cruelty. This was truth spoken with authority.
Human anger is often selfish, impulsive, or destructive. Jesus’ anger was pure, purposeful, and protective.
He was angry for the right reasons:
When God’s name was dishonored
When the vulnerable were exploited
When repentance was refused
When truth was twisted
His anger flowed from love, not pride.
Jesus shows us that meekness includes:
Gentleness toward the repentant
Firmness toward the rebellious
Patience toward the weak
Courage toward injustice
The Gentle Shepherd carries lambs, but He also defends the flock.
The Lamb of God was silent before His accusers, but He also rebuked the storm, commanded demons, and confronted sin.
Following Jesus means learning both sides of His heart:
People who are hurting need tenderness, not harshness.
Love does not ignore what destroys.
Jesus never crushed a bruised reed.
Jesus never bowed to pressure or fear.
This is the kind of love that transforms families, churches, and communities.
“Lord Jesus, Gentle Shepherd and Righteous King, teach me to love like You. Give me gentleness for the hurting, courage to confront sin, patience with the weak, and wisdom to know the difference. Shape my heart to reflect Your meekness and Your strength. Amen.”

🌅 Every Day Begins With God
Little Lamb woke up early, just as the sun began to rise.
He stretched his tiny legs, blinked his sleepy eyes, and whispered,
“Thank You, Lord, for a brand‑new day.”
Little Lamb didn’t know what the day would bring — sunshine
or clouds, playtime or chores — but he knew one thing for sure: every day is
better when he talks to Jesus first.
Just like the song says:
“Ev‑er‑ry day, when the sun arises,
Fill us with praise,
For Your love shines always.”
Little Lamb learned that prayer isn’t something big or
fancy.
It’s simply talking to God — in the morning, at sunset, and all the moments in
between.
🌇 When the Day Winds Down
As the sky turned orange and purple, Little Lamb watched the
sunset paint the hills.
He felt peaceful inside, because he remembered to pray again.
“Thank You, Lord, for being with me today.
Help me love You more tomorrow.”
And the gentle words of the song echoed in his heart:
“Ev‑er‑ry day, when sunset is painting,
Fill us each day
With Your loving ways.”
Little Lamb learned that prayer keeps his heart close to
Jesus — morning, noon, and night.

🎬 Scene: The Tangle
Before the Tidings
INT. BETHLEHEM HILLSIDE – NIGHT
Soft lanterns flicker across a moonlit field. Two young
shepherds — Micah and Eli — tiptoe through the grass, their
sandals squishing in the dew. They’re supposed to be watching sheep, but their
staffs have other plans.
MICAH (whispers) “Careful, Eli. We don’t want to wake
the lambs.”
ELI (grinning) “I’m careful! You’re the one swinging
your staff like a sword.”
They turn a corner — and clink! — their crooks hook
together. A moment of silence. Then…
MICAH & ELI (together) “Oh no…”
They tug. Twist. Spin. The staffs won’t budge. The boys
stumble in circles, giggling and whispering, trying not to wake the flock.
Suddenly, a sheep bleats.
SHEEP “Baaa!”
MICAH “Shhh! You’ll wake the stars!”
The boys freeze. Then burst into laughter. Their staffs
finally untangle — just as a brilliant light floods the hillside.
Cue Music: Soft angelic chorus
A host of angels appears above, glowing with joy. The boys
drop their staffs and stare, wide-eyed.
ANGEL (gentle voice) “Fear not. For unto you is born
this day… a Savior.”
Micah and Eli glance at each other — still tangled in
giggles — and nod solemnly.
ELI “Guess we better follow that star.”
MICAH “Just… no more staff tricks.”
They grab their crooks, now held with reverence, and tiptoe
toward Bethlehem — sheep trailing behind like a fluffy parade.
Blooper 2:
INT. HEAVENLY SKY – NIGHT
The angel, still adjusting the halo that keeps slipping, steps forward into a spotlight of starlight. The choir hushes. The angel looks directly at the audience, wings fluttering with excitement.
ANGEL (laughing softly) “Oh, you should’ve seen it! I mean, really — one moment I was floating gracefully, and the next… plop! My halo slid right down over my eyes. I couldn’t see a thing! So what did I do? I danced. I twirled. I tried to keep it in place, and the children below thought it was part of the show!”
The angel pauses, halo wobbling again, and grins.
ANGEL (with emotion) “And that’s the beauty of it — joy sneaks in when you least expect it. The laughter wasn’t a mistake. It was a gift. Because sometimes the funniest moments remind us that heaven’s light shines brightest when we’re not perfect, but playful.”
The angel spins once more, halo sliding dangerously low, then catches it with a dramatic flourish.
ANGEL (mock serious, then bursting into giggles) “See? Even angels have bloopers. And oh, it was hilarious — because laughter is holy too.”
The choir erupts in gentle chuckles, stars twinkle brighter, and the angel bows with exaggerated grace, halo finally steady.

INT. SCHOOL AUDITORIUM – NIGHT
The lights dim. A hush falls over the audience. The spotlight lands on a small child in a donkey costume, center stage, blinking at the crowd with wide, innocent eyes.
DONKEY (child voice, full of wonder) “Okay, okay… I know what you’re thinking. I was supposed to walk straight across the stage. But did you see that flower prop? It smelled like marshmallows!”
The child-donkey sniffs dramatically, then turns to the audience with a grin.
DONKEY (giggling) “And then I saw Mrs. Jenkins in the front row — she waved! So I waved back. And then I saw the baby Jesus doll and thought, ‘He looks cold!’ So I tried to nuzzle him. But my tail got stuck in the hay.”
CUT TO: FLASHBACK MONTAGE
The donkey sniffing a giant paper flower.
The donkey waving at the audience.
The donkey gently nudging the manger.
The narrator whispering, “Just keep walking, sweetheart…”
The donkey spinning in a circle, tail tangled in tinsel.
BACK TO STAGE
DONKEY (with pride) “It was the scenic route, okay? I gave joy. I gave drama. I gave… donkey.”
The audience bursts into laughter. The choir giggles behind their hymnals. Even the narrator chuckles.
DONKEY (softly, with emotion) “And you know what? Everyone laughed. And it felt like love. Because sometimes, the best part of the story… is the part you didn’t plan.”
The donkey bows. The haloed angel claps. The curtain falls.
“Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.”
When I lift my heart up to God, I’m really saying, “Lord, here is my heart. You already see everything about me.”
Father God has every right to know all that I am, and I have trusted Him with my life. In my heart, I lift my hands to Him. I’ve learned that when I hold my heart up before Him, I’m admitting that I am undeserving — as we all are — yet His mercies are new every morning.
As I go through the motion of lifting my heart to my Daddy God, I’m asking for His mercy and protection, His guidance and His blessing, His help and His kindness, His presence and His power.
That simple motion — holding my heart up to God — reminds me that He knows everything about me. Nothing is hidden. And so I say, “Here I am, Lord. Please help me.”

Valentine’s Day is often filled with cards, candy, and heart‑shaped decorations. But beneath all the glitter and sweetness lies a deeper question every human heart asks:
“What does real love look like?”
The world gives many answers—romance, gifts, grand gestures.
But Scripture gives a better one:
Real love looks like Jesus.
And Jesus calls Himself the Gentle Shepherd.
In John 10:11, Jesus says:
“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
A shepherd is not harsh.
A shepherd is not proud.
A shepherd does not push, intimidate, or demand.
A shepherd leads, protects, guides, and carries.
Isaiah 40:11 paints the picture:
“He shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom.”
That is the heart of Jesus—
strong enough to save,
gentle enough to hold.
This is the love we celebrate on Valentine’s Day.
Jesus taught meekness, but more importantly, He lived it.
Meekness is not weakness.
Meekness is strength under perfect control.
Jesus had all power—yet He used it to heal, forgive, restore, and save.
This is the kind of love that changes families, friendships, and futures.
Imagine a shepherd walking through a rocky hillside.
He hears a cry—a lamb stuck in a thorn bush.
He doesn’t shout at it.
He doesn’t scold it for wandering.
He doesn’t leave it to struggle.
He kneels.
He reaches.
He lifts.
He carries.
That is Jesus with us.
When we fail, He restores.
When we fear, He comforts.
When we wander, He seeks us.
When we break, He binds us up.
This is the love every heart longs for.
Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to ask:
How can we love like the Gentle Shepherd?
This is the love Jesus showed.
This is the love He calls us to show.
Galatians 6:1 calls it “the spirit of meekness.”
A love that lifts instead of crushes.
A love that carries instead of condemns.
A love that reflects the Shepherd’s heart.
Children, teens, adults, grandparents—
every heart needs the same Shepherd.
His love is not seasonal.
His gentleness is not temporary.
His meekness is not fragile.
His love is:
This is the love that heals homes, softens hearts, and strengthens faith.
“Lord Jesus, Gentle Shepherd, thank You for loving us with a meek and mighty love. Teach us to walk in Your gentleness, to speak with Your kindness, and to love with Your patience. Shape our homes, our families, and our hearts to reflect Your shepherd’s heart. Make our love real, humble, and beautiful—for Your glory. Amen.”
