Jesus Wept Too

I asked permission to write about Sherry.

Comfort the Widow

We can send a greeting card.
We can help 'round her yard.
We can give her a big hug.
Pray with her to God above.

We can stop and say hello.
Take her where she wants to go.
Write a poem that is sweet.
Bring her something good to eat.

If one day you see her weep.
We should weep with those who weep.
You should say yes mam to her.
Respect and honor her words.

Always show your love and care
and try to always be there.
Give a helping hand if she
Seems to have a special need.

Be a friend when it is hard.
When you feel that you're on guard.
Sometimes anger can be there.
When it seems like no one cares.

Give her a call on the phone.
Remember she is alone.
Listening is important.
Be a friend who is heaven-sent.

Be there, just be there and pray.
Help her through another day.
Be there, Just be there because;
She needs to know that she's loved.

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

 Romans 12:15
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

There are a lot of things in this world we could weep about, but the bible does tell us to weep with them that weep.  Not only that, the shortest verse in the bible comes to mind.  Jesus wept.  Jesus felt compassion for his friends who had lost loved ones.  He wept with those who wept.

Memory Verse Helps
Print Two

At the beginning of your lesson:
Use one to read out loud having
the kids repeat after you.

Cut one into words
for the memory verse chart.
Read the verse together once.
Then have a child remove a word.
Read the verse again, then remove another word.
Keep on doing the same thing until all the words are gone.
By the end, they should be able to recite the verse
without reading them.

You can find a memory verse chart from
"Regular Baptist Press"
Shrink the verse by 70 -75%
If you do not have a memory verse chart.
Tape the pieces in order ahead of time onto this lined paper below.
Treat it just like a memory verse chart.
This is a way to do it without buying a chart.
Laminate your chart.
Print the chart as a full page.

Have a child remove one word.
Say the verse together.
Proceed until all the words are gone.
They should be able to say the verse by the end of this game
without any words. Say it all together as a group.
Then choose children who want to say it alone.

If they are on time:
Jumping into the ball pit is going to be their reward this week.

Romans 12:15

I'm going to read these questions to my class without giving the answers
Then I'm going to tell them the bible story about Lazarus.
WE are reading through it and discussing it.  Remind them that they are going to be quizzed
at the end of our lesson with the review questions.

John 11:1-2
Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless, let us go unto him.
Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off: {about...: that is, about two miles
And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, {was troubled: Gr. he troubled himself}
And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
 Jesus wept.
Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

God comforts our hearts as Christians when we go through hard times like this.   Jesus even wept over his friend's grief.  People that trusted in Jesus cried over Lazarus's death.  It is a natural thing for people to cry when someone we love dies.  We miss people we love who have died and cry over it again and again.  When you know Jesus you can tell God all about how you feel.  When we are his he hears us always.  Just like Jesus said in his prayer to God.

God wants people to believe and to be saved from their sins.  That's why God allowed Lazarus to die.

Young people there is no mistake that God teaches us about death in the story of Lazarus.  Jesus wants people to know that when we are born again.  We become children of God and when we pray he hears us always.  He is with us through the heartbreak just like the moon looking like it was crying.  God heard Sherry cry.

Father God, I pray you will speak to hearts today.  Show people that God wants people to believe and be saved from their sins.  That is exactly what happened when Lazarus was raised from the dead.  Many Jews were saved. They believe upon Christ as the  Son of God. I pray Lord Jesus that people will trust you as Saviour today as they read this lesson.  I pray that you will be glorified.
In Jesus name I pray this today.  Amen
