Fall Owl Coloring Page - In Hell He Lift Up His Eyes

Bible Reading Luke 16: 19 - 31
Read to class.  We are asking questions from this passage
and also the poem that I wrote called.  "Make Jesus Your Light".

Luke 16:19 -31
 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Rejoice And Be Glad Coloring Page
Easter Version Song: I've Got The Joy Of The Lord

He Carried Me Home

I am a little lamb, a little, little lamb.
I’m happy because it’s a beautiful day.
I am a little lamb, a little, little lamb.
And I am full of  wonderful joy, I love to play

I am a little lamb, a little, little lamb.
I like to play games like "I'm Catching Up To You".
I wait until the flock moves far, far ahead.
Then I run and catch up to them and say "yahoo."

One time I waited too long then I lost my way,
I wandered away. I wandered away, away.
I saw a butterfly flying with golden wings.
I tried to catch it but I saw many other things.

Then I saw a tortoise as big as she could be.
I climbed aboard her green hard shell to take a ride.
She carried me slowly down to the cool riverside.
"Oh, Thank-you Mrs. Tortoise," I said with a sigh.

I felt so sad, alone, I wanted to cry.
Then I saw a great big fish, looking up at me.
I became worried, I needed my family.
I fell into the storm waves of wisdom worldly.

I cried and cried all night for someone to save me.
Then I found myself upon a dirty mossy log.
I prayed a prayer to God in heaven above.
While I fearfully sank into a gushy bog.

I was stuck within a bushy thorny thicket.
Then I heard a voice so true, a voice that I knew.
It was my Shepherd's voice, my loving Shepherd.
He said," I’ve been looking everywhere for you."

"I love you little lamb," He held me in his hand.
He hugged me and He said, "You are not alone."
He placed me on his shoulder of peace and love.
I went to sleep as my Shepherd carried me home.

MaMa

MaMa

Around 18 yrs. ago, when we were at our first church, my daughter started a babysitting job.  We met the baby, his name was Jackson.  I’m not sure how old he was when he became part of our lives.  I think he was 6 weeks old.  It was my daughter’s babysitting job but we all watched him.

We watched him every week but not on the weekends.  We didn’t normally watch him on the holidays, either.

Both my daughters called me mom.  Jackson from six weeks old heard my girls call me mom.

Every day he heard them call me mom, so he called me mom.  I explained to Jackson, do not call me mom, because I’m not your mom.  So then, Jackson didn’t know what to call me.  I didn’t want him to call me Susan, because I wanted for him to learn respect.  I didn’t want him to call me Mrs. Nikitenko because, it was too formal for seeing him every single day, except weekends.  I told him to call me Mama Sue, Sue, because, I was a mom to my daughters who were watching him.  I chose Sue, sue because my cousins called my mom, Aunt Sue, Sue.   I chose the name “Mama Sue Sue, because I was a mother figure there and I was teaching him respect.

Now…I never heard that before anywhere else, I pretty much just made it up. I just came up with the name: Mama Sue Sue.

Somebody made a big deal about Jackson calling me Mama Sue Sue. I really didn't hear anything about it until we weren't there anymore.  Like it was bad for me to teach him to call me, MaMa Sue Sue.  As a matter a fact all of a sudden there was Mama Krysta and Mama Everyone.  So, a new thing was started.

An interesting thing, in the Philippines of all places.  When my sister Teresa had some work to do in the Philippines.  She was teaching a class full of Filipinos.  They became very close and they showed her a lot of respect and love.  She said they were very protective of her.  They kept on calling her an interesting thing.

They called her Mama Teresa.

My mother and I were on the phone and my mother started telling me how she and dad, chose very unusual names for each one of us children.  At that time, in 1956 - the 1960s, the names she chose were rarely heard, or not at all.  During the conversation, that we had, I said something about Mother Teresa.  My sister immediately, got on the phone because she wanted to share with me a story about her trip to the Philippines.

Her students continued to address her as Mama Teresa,  Mama Teresa this, and Mama Teresa that.  She told them, please do not call me mama.  I am not your mom.  Then someone explained that calling her Mama Teresa was a way to show her respect.  She said she loved them for their sweet spirits.  She will never forget the great respect and honor they displayed to her while she was teaching in the Philippines.

I wonder if this is the rest of the story.

Just a note: Sue Sue is not oriental,  it's just the name my cousins called my mom when they were little.

Colors Of Blessing

Colors Of Blessing

By: Susan Y Nikitenko 2009©
Revised 2010©

Could the angels have special jobs;
Like painting leaves of fall?
Can’t mighty God do anything?
He has created all.

Perhaps angels spread forth their wings;
To paint the swirls of fall.
Upon the trees of mountain tops;
And on the forests tall.

A swish of orange, a splash of gold;
A whirl of autumn red.
Every creature great and small;
I’m sure would lift their head.

From tree to tree each color grows;
and spreads across the land.
A gift from God to be enjoyed;
Made by his perfect hand.

Each angel flying here and there;
Spreading colors of joy.
And when leaves flutter to the ground;
It makes a rainbow toy. - (A pile of leaves)

Children jumping, children laughing;
In the colorful mounds.
Up pops a smiling little face;
With all the fun-filled sounds.

And like a child I too will laugh;
I’ll jump right in with glee.
And enjoy these lovely blessings;
He’s given you and me.

Orange leaves of family laughter;
Red leaves a promise of grace.
Yellow a golden forever;
In the arms of God's embrace

I’m not too old to play in leaves;
Too old to have some fun.
I’ll roll around and giggle too;
     and I’ll have joy in God's Son.

For He fills my heart with laughter;
He is so good you see.
He’s painted this, a lovely world;
 It is inside of me.

Jumping daily in His presence;
A colorful array.
Jump into Joy, Jump into peace;
By trusting Him every day.

Jump happily, into kindness;
Jump with glee into love.
Be content and be hopeful;
Looking to Him above.

Leave a lasting essence of hope;
To all eyes watching you.
A rainbow of blessings awaits;
Come, jump into it too.

-I wrote this poem as a reaction to something else I read. I started thinking about my children when they were little. I was missing my small children because they were growing up.
I was thinking of having another child. I was also thinking about children who are in heaven. Years ago, someone had lost a baby and I was talking to her and God gave me something to say.
I told her, "I believe God gives babies special jobs in heaven." That was the first time I ever heard that.. out of my own mouth. I remembered that when I wrote this poem. God gives us joy through our sorrow..when we trust Him. He's our comforter. God's Son, is finding Jesus Christ... and teaching my children about Him. I was wanting the reader to get the picture of what I was talking about and the feeling that comes along with loving your children and playing with them.  We can have fun teaching children about God's Son.  Through games and fun activities.  After all, the most important thing to teach your children is about God and his Son.

Learning To Give Tithes and Offerings

Offerings are anything above your tithe.

Learning To Tithe and to Give Offerings

Object Lesson

Malachi 3:8

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Give Each Child A Dollar:

Collect change, enough to give each child 3 quarters, 2 dimes and a nickel.

Tell each child that you’re going to give them $1.00 each.

Give the children a clear sandwich bag and a paper slip with the word YOU on it

Help the kids tape the word YOU onto the bag.

Help the kids put their change into the bags, one dollar for each child.

When you are given or paid a dollar give God 10%.   Jesus

When you are given or paid a dollar consider others.  Others

Then keep the rest to save for what you need or want.   Yourself

Make A Class Offering Plate:

Prepare an offering box or plate for the tithe – Make a tag and write the word JESUS onto it.

(kids) Then tape it onto the box.  Use the offering plate each week to take up an offering.

Make A Missions Box:

Make an offering box for Missionaries and the food fund for the needy. – Make a tag, then write the word OTHERS onto it.  (Kids) Then tape it onto the box.

A Practice Giving Of The Tithe and Offering

-Pass the plate around, have each child put in 10% of their dollar.
-Then have them put an offering into the offering box.  - for missions or the food fund.
-They can keep the remainder of the money in the sandwich bag and take it home.
-Now next time they make money at home or anywhere.  They should bring in tithes and offerings.
  and give as we have given today.

Joyful Giving

Joyful Giving

God has given us so many blessings.  Some of us more than others.  Some people are blessed with talent.  Some of us are blessed with money.  Some of us are blessed with time and some with resources.  How ever we are blessed, whether, with little or much, we should use those blessings to bring God glory and to help those who need help.  We may not always be able to help people but when we can we should.

Pastor John, went to the grocery store to buy groceries for a widow woman from their church.  She was shut in and had no family to help her.  Though Pastor John had very little money to spare, he was willing to show his love and care.  He was talking to God from his heart.  He asked God to provide not only his own financial needs but also to help him be able to help people in need, like the widow woman from their church.

Almost immediately, Pastor John could hear young children exclaiming, “Look mom there’s Pastor John!”  the children then ran to greet him with joy.  Their mother, Ann Whistler, smiled.  Pastor John greeted them and proceeded to tell them he was there to pick up groceries for Widow Beth Mentor, who had lost her husband six months prior.  Ann felt sadness as Pastor John told her about Widow Beth.  She bowed her head in thought, then She reached into her purse and pulled out $20.00 to donate to the grocery fund.

Little Anna Marie was upset, she remembered her mother telling her she didn’t have enough money to be spending it on candy.  When they left the store Anna Marie complained to her mother about the $20.00.   “We will talk about this tonight, Anna, when we have our devotions.”, Her mother said. “ I do not understand why you gave away $20.00 when Dad’s been laid off from work." frowned Anna.

During devotions that night:

Anna’s mother opened her bible to four separate verses.  She then read a story about giving with joy.

“Joyful Giving Gives You Joyful Living.” “I chose these four verses to read to you.”  Her mother started teaching.

"The first verse is out of the book of Proverbs, Proverbs 31: 20 says, She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.  The bible teaches that a virtuous woman will help the needy. When she can, she should.  Even if it means sacrifice on her part.

 Another verse we should pay attention to is a reminder to people that helping others is God’s way.  Sometimes people can take advantage of this, so we need to pray about who we help.

God will not hear our prayers of need, if we do not hear the cries of the poor.  Proverbs 21:13 says - Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.  God wants us to give cheerfully to Him in our Tithes and offerings.  Making a donation, to the grocery fund, at the church, is an offering unto God.  Just as giving to missions is an offering to God.

This final verse has to do with the attitudes of our hearts.  God doesn’t want you to give to him because you have to.  He wants you to give to God with a cheerful heart of I want to - because I love God.

2Corithians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

The bible says if we are not giving to God of our tithes and offerings then we are stealing from God:

 Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

For our lives to be truly blessed by God, we must give to God in tithes and offerings.  If God has blessed us, we must bless God in return, by giving to him out of love and devotion."

Anna's mother tucked her into bed and prayed that her children would grow up to be cheerful givers and that the Lord would bless their lives.   Anna also prayed for all her family and thanked the Lord for all their many blessings.

Faith To Try - Part 1 and Part Two Completed

Part 1:  Faith To Try

Amber wanted to volunteer for the August Arts Festival Program.  The homeschool was putting a Christian presentation together for grades K-6th.  Amber was in 3rd grade.   She was selected to recite Psalms 100.  The theme of the festival was “The American Indian theme, combined with a Christian perspective.”   Amber felt afraid right away.  She was afraid to make a mistake and did not want to recite the verses.  Other kids from the 3rd grade class refused in fear of messing up as well.  None of them wanted to volunteer for reciting Psalms 100.

In response, the teacher selected a lesson about faith.  The lesson was about Peter walking on the water.

Amber listened intently because her teacher was very good at telling stories.  Especially real stories from the Bible.  Amber could almost see herself walking on the water, then becoming fearful of the winds and the storm.

Their teacher told the story so well that all the children sat in suspense and they all became calm as the storm was calmed by Jesus.

The teacher asked, which one in our story today made the biggest mistake?  One of the other children named “Matty, quickly responded.  “Peter”.   “Why do you believe that it was Peter who made the biggest mistake?  Asked their teacher.  Then Patty answered shyly, “Because he was afraid?”” He lost trust in Jesus!”  Joey spoke loudly.

Their teacher cleverly answered, “Actually Peter did have faith.  The ones that didn’t even try, they showed no faith.  They wanted to stay in the boat but Peter wanted to do great things like walk on the water.  One of the greatest mistakes any of us can ever make is letting fear keep us from even trying.

Sometimes people can harshly criticize others for making mistakes and those watching will never try.  They become fearful of being treated the same way.  We should try our best but if we mess up.  We should be happy in knowing we had faith to try.

Susan Y Nikitenko August 15th, 2021 ©  Story Lesson

 Part 2: Do Not Let Fear Outdo Your Faith.

After a few days passed, Amber’s mother talked to her about being willing to recite Psalms 100 for the festival activity.  Her mother talked to her about great people in history.  People who wanted to do great things.  Some of them failed many times, but they did not give up.  Great things were discovered because they wouldn’t let discouragement stop them.  We wouldn’t have the light bulb today.  We wouldn’t have some of the cures we have today.  We would not have many of the conveniences we enjoy today if there were no people who were willing to fail in order to learn.  We must have the faith to try.  Amber and her mother prayed.

Amber called Mrs. Hall who was in charge and agreed to recite Psalms 100.  She studied and prepared.  Then the time came to stand before an audience of strangers.  She began to pray in her heart, “Father in heaven please help me.”   She took a deep breath and walked up to the microphone.  With confidence in her voice, Amber recited her lines. Her teacher only had to prompt her one time.  Here is what she recited:

Psalms 100:1-5 KJV

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture

 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Mrs. Hall smiled and Amber’s mother was as happy as she could be.  Even though Amber made a mistake, she felt joyful that she did not let fear keep her from trying.

 Amber will probably know Psalms 100 for the rest of her life and will remember not to let her fear outdo her faith.  She will probably always remember Peter walking on the water and how he looked away from Jesus.  He could not walk on water without Jesus, He cried for help and Jesus stretched out his hand.  He stretched out his hand, just as he does to all of his children who call for his help.

He saves those who want to be saved.  His hand is reached out to you.  Will you take his hand.   If you would like to know Jesus as your personal Saviors today.  Would you raise your hand so I know to pray for you?
