Scarecrows - Rebuilding and Restoring

The photo above is a picture of our flower gardens over 10 years ago.

Rebuilding And Restoring

Talk about withering storms.  Poor little fellas, year after year I have put them outside and by the time I bring them in .. . they are literally losing their straw heads.  Not only are they losing heads they are losing straw arms.  Every year I put them away and then pull them out again, they have been faithful but they have been through a lot.   Not only did they need to be rebuilt, but this is the first year I had to include a makeover for each one.  They were just plain faded and needed hair transplants.

If you haven't guessed yet, They are the scarecrows I put out in my gardens every year.  I guess I could have bought new ones.. but no, thrifty I must be.  So I pulled out the glue gun, the wire, extra raffia,  the paint, the buttons, and orange sparkles and started rebuilding.  I was able to get two done so far.

I gave them special care though they will never be perfect,  two of them are standing outside, with sparkly cheeks.  Ready for all kinds of weather and ready to do their job scaring off crows.  All the while making the season a brighter place.

I decided to use these straw-trimmed scarecrows to talk about the storms we go through in life. The times that our faith is tried and our joy lost.

The storms of life, like our problems, or hardship.  Sometimes they can leave us feeling broken and in some cases not just feeling broken, but literally broken mentally and spiritually.  It seems when a person goes through his hardest blows in life, is when friends tend to forsake him, thinking, " You're not as strong as I thought you were."  Then one day, sad to say, their storms blow and they find out they weren't that strong either, none of us have arrived spiritually.  We are always learning about God and about ourselves through both good and bad.

I think of John the Baptist, after a lifelong faithfulness,  finding himself in prison questioning if Jesus was who He said He was.  He was questioning his whole life's work.  Before his beheading, Christ sent messengers to assure him He was the Christ.

John was martyred for the cause of Christ.  Know for sure, that John met God on that day and was given a crown.  He was instantly whole and joyful in the presence of God in heaven's bright land.  The Bible describes John the Baptist as the greatest man who was born of women.

Luke  7:28a
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: (KJV)

Now our hardships may not be the kind that John had to go through, because life brings different people, through different problems.  Life always has difficulties that we must wither and we have choices through those difficulties.  The biggest way to overcome this is to believe God and trust in His grace. Let him rebuild our broken hearts as we trust him through our storm.

God uses people in different places in life.  He has made us, especially for the place He wants us to be.
The place that God wants us to be, is the place where we can shine the brightest.  Some problems we face are simply because we are out of God's will.  God sometimes will direct us back to where we need to be by presenting us with difficulties. (chastisement)  The Bible teaches us that life WILL have problems ... Job 5:7 Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

Some problems are not because of chastisement but have a purpose far greater than we may ever know.  All the biblical prophets went through problems that God has used to teach us some of life's greatest spiritual lessons. The examples are too many to mention all.  Job comes to mind as one of the greatest examples of undeserved suffering.  If you read to the end you'll find  God restores and rebuilds Job's life.

Sometimes our problems are designed to get us ready for what God has for us next.  God will sometimes strengthen us for greater responsibility.  The problems are there in order to change us for a greater purpose.

The most important thing to remember through life's storms is to remember Jesus calms the storms, rebuilds, and restores them.   Praising him and trusting him as Paul and Silas did in the prison house.  God was so moved by the praise that He broke down the prison walls.

Act  16:25
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

The Bible is full of problems overcome by Christians who remained faithful and joyful in the things of the Lord.  No matter what if we are His children heaven awaits us and everlasting joy is our inheritance.

Father, help us to trust you and stay faithful through life's difficulties.  Put a song in our hearts and praise upon our lips.  Let your presence shine through our lives even through life's tears and sorrows.
Use our lives to touch others in a way that will make a true difference for righteousness' sake and the cause of Christ.. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, Amen

I still have several scarecrows to rebuild and I'm planning where to place each one.   Hopefully,
these guys will remind us that life gives us problems, but we have a God who is molding our hearts and lives as we love and trust him.   He has a purpose that we may never know until we set by his side in heavenly places.

Hands Should Please God

Hands Should Please God
(Acrostic)

Hands say allot about someone, by what they do each day.
Are they serving righteousness in the choices that are made?
Not using them to hurt or steal, to undermine God's will.
Do they serve others with God's love and  motives  that are real?
Sincerity often is seen in what our hands  are used to do.
Some showing acts of kindness or signing "I Love You".
Hands can be used to comfort, wiping away someones tear.
Or be slammed to a table causing confusion or fear.
Unruly they can be when anger rules within the heart.
Loud in their doings, guided by someone not thinking smart.
Digging deep the ditches of sin, living the devil's part.
People are given hands to serve the Lord, to build, to bless.
Loving with gentleness, encourage with thoughtfulness.
Ease the pain of others by aiding them in a time of need.
Always ready  to be extended, not moved by greed.
Somehow hands seem to speak without saying one single word;
Emotions, seem to be noticed and our hands can be heard.
Good works are often something hands can do so naturally.
Only if done for the Lord, will live eternally.
Do with hands the work of love, with joy and faithful be.
Because hands were made to serve the Lord
            with love and dignity.

Parrot is a Carrot

I had to change a few things in this song and added two verses.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not;
charity vaunteth, not itself is not puffed up.

The Bible Train

My granddaughter wanted me to write a song called the "Bible Train."  Well, here it is.

 Proverbs 22:6 ¶
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Jesus Help Me

Lamentations 3:21-26

This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.  It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

We Need Your Blessing

The Storehouse Is The Church
Malachi 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the
storehouse, that there may be meat
in mine house, and prove me now
herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will
not open you the windows of heaven,
and pour you out a blessing,
that there shall not be room enough to
receive it.

Prepare your hearts to receive a blessing.  Give to God without complaint.
God wants us to be cheerful about giving to him.   He promises to open the windows of heaven.
Be a faithful giver to God and then God will be faithful in giving to you.  This is a promise to God's children.

I have corrected something on this poster

Prepare your hearts to receive a blessing. Give to God without complaint.
God wants us to be cheerful about giving to him. He promises to open the windows of heaven.
Be a faithful giver to God and then God will be faithful in giving to you. This is a promise to God's children. You want to love him more..? Love him in your giving to him.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal, it shall be measured to you again.

Easter or Spring Umbrella

The Easter Umbrella

These green umbrellas came along with some teaching aids that
were donated by Mrs, Asbury.  They were already cut out of green cardboard with this song verse on it and were faded.
I decorated them with markers and colored pencils.  Now they look new.

I do not know this song but I'm going to have the children hold these umbrellas and repeat the song
portion, that they are holding.

One at a time...
I will read it and they will repeat it

Enlarge a clipart outline of an umbrella.

Draw another outline around the clipart found by following the link below.  Make a half-inch border around it or slightly bigger.

Enlarge and trace the shape onto cardboard.  Cut it out and decorate it as shown above.

On the back of the umbrellas, I'm going to
place another verse about the resurrection of Christ.

What do you use an umbrella for?  We use the umbrella to protect
ourselves from rain or the heat of the sun.

We are going to keep this umbrella in mind as we listen to our bible
story today.  Moses and The Ten Commandments.  We've been talking about the life of Moses quite a bit lately.  We are going to talk about the ten commandments because God has given the
ten commandments to help us understand what sin is.  Anytime we break God's law whether in thought or action it is considered a sin.  According to the bible if we break one of the commandments of the Lord God, then we are guilty of all of them.

 James 2:10
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

In order for us to be protected, by an umbrella so to speak, from the judgment of God, we must accept the gift of Salvation that is through Christ and his blood shed for us.  Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

We are going to turn to Exodus chapter 19

Johnny Apple Seed Game

Johnny Apple Seed  Game
( You Reap What You Sow)

I chose this coloring page because it has really big apples.  As we know Johnny Apple Seed planted seeds and those seeds turned into Apple Trees.  I'm using this for the review game. You can do this in a number of ways.  Tape the coloring page upon a board like it is or Make it BIG for older children.

Prepare These Things Ahead Of Time

1. You can let them put a sticker upon the apple for every right answer. for small children or

Divide into Teams:
One team is Golden Delicious  GD
One team is Granny Smith  GS
If you have a third team - Red Delicious  RD

2. You could put points and prizes onto individual pieces of paper and stick them
face down onto each apple.  Take turns while asking questions.   When the correct answer is given by one of the players he/she gets to uncover an apple to reveal the points earned.  Hide a rotten apple
on one slip - lose 100 pts. If they get a rotten apple they lose the points just for that turn.  Hide a dove on one of the slips extra 100 points

If you have more than 12 review questions.  Stack twelve
slips with differing points.  Have them draw out a slip to reveal their points.  Ask the question.
They only earn the points by getting the right answer.  Put another rotten apple in the stack and another dove.

Every time a team gets the right answer they put their initials into an apple.  If Golden Delicious
Scores - GD is what they will write into one of the apples and so on.

The overall winner will be the team with the most apples marked.

Only do prizes if you can afford them.  You can make ribbons or give them stickers for participation.

I Want To Live My Life For You.

Only One God

Only One God Who's Made Heaven and Earth.
Only One God Who is Really Real.
Only one God Who Hears Our Faintest Cry.
Only One God  Who Knows How We Feel.

Only One God, Yes, Only One God.
Nothing Greater, Nothing Higher
ThanThe Almighty Power of God.
No, Not earth, Not Wind, Nor Fire.

Only one God Who Has All the Answers;
Only one God Who Knows You By Name.
Only One God Who Knows Everything You've Done.
Only One God Who Gave His Only Son.

Only One God, Yes, Only One God.
Nothing More, Just, Nothing More True.
ThanThe Almighty Wisdom of God,
And His Will and Purpose For You.

Luck Has Nothing to Do With It - Song

Luck Has Nothing to Do With It

God sent his Son; it was all about Love.

Jesus paid the price with his holy blood.

It was all about Love; it was all about Love.

He was sinless and pure a snow-white dove.

Luck had nothing to do with it because...

We can not live good enough you see.

It’s only through Jesus that we can be.

Saved and washed from sin eternally.

It was all about Love; it was all about Love.

Luck had nothing to do with it because...

It has everything to do with God’s love for me and you.

He cried, he died, His blood was shed for all.

It was all about Love; it was all about Love.

Luck had nothing to do with it because...

It has everything to do with God’s love.

You say, maybe I have lived good enough.

But our Savior has already paid the price.

Luck had nothing to do with it because;

You can know that you have eternal life.

It was all about Love; it was all about Love.

Luck had nothing to do with it because...

It has everything to do with God’s love for me and you.

God Has a Purpose for You

God Has a Purpose for You

Our Father has a purpose for you.
He loveth his sons and daughters.
He leadeth in paths of righteousness.
He leadeth beside still waters.

Walk in the ways of Godly wisdom.
Follow God's instructions each day.
Ask and you will find his will for you
Acknowledge Him in all you do.

Not my will but yours be done, dear Lord.
This should be our main goal in Christ.
Live and love in the name of Jesus.
Make him the center of your life.

He is our Shepherd we shall not want.
He is our comfort and our friend.
He will show us his way and his will.
By faith, we will find our purpose in Him.

Chorus:
God has a purpose for you.
God has a purpose for me.
We need to look to him in prayer.
That He will lead us safely there.

That we won’t be distracted.
Don’t let the devil have his way.
That we won’t be turned away.
Don’t let the devil have his way.

God has a purpose for you.
God has a purpose for me.
We need to look to him in prayer.
That He will lead us safely there.

That we won’t be distracted.
Don’t let the devil have his way.
That we won’t be turned away.
Don’t let the devil have his way.

God has a purpose for you.
God has a purpose for me.

He is our Shepherd we shall not want.
He is our comfort and our friend.
He will show us his way and his will.
By faith, we will find our purpose in Him.

Growing In Faith - A Guide #3

Growing In Faith - A Guide

The bible teaches us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Without faith, it is impossible to be saved.  Without faith, it’s impossible to have your prayer answered.  Without faith, there are no righteous miracles.  God says if we do not have faith not to expect anything from him.

It is through faith that we grow by obedience, faith will cause you to obey because you truly have faith in what the bible teaches.  Rebellion to God’s word and to what God wants us to do has shown that you have chosen not to believe God.

If we truly believe something we act upon it.  If you believe you believe something is going to hit you in the head, you will move out of its way.  Your moving is evidence that you believe.  If you believe what God says then there will be evidence of that belief.

Romans 10: 10

[10] For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

When you truly believe you will have righteous actions that come along with that belief.

God teaches us that just a little faith can cause great things to happen.

Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

For us to live of faith we must first accept Christ into our heart and life by faith.  By faith you will seek, you will knock and you will ask.  Once you have trusted Christ, Christ lives within you and will help guide you in every choice you make.

Sometimes it will be hard to do what’s right and by faith, you will do what God wants you to do and God will get you through.

Life is not easy and your faith will be tried and because you have the comforter, you can communicate to God your struggle, your grief, and any doubt that you may have.  By faith, you will stay faithful to him through both good and bad.  Good and bad have happened to every person, but a person of faith will continue to trust God and obey him, through it all.  You grow by continuing by faith, to learn of God, to obey God, to praise God, and to depend on God.

By faith resist what is wrong and cling to our God our King.  Do not go back to the slavery of Egypt.  You are his child and you will never have peace in your sin.   Egypt is a picture of sin, slavery, and hell.  God has no pleasure in those who turn back in their unbelief.  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  If you have already turned in the wrong direction run back to God and repent. It may feel he’s far away, but he has never left you.  You left him.  By faith, return to God and he will hold you to his heart.  Just as a mother or father forgives their little one.   Faith brings actions of faith; it is through or successes and our failures that we grow in faith.  God shows us mercy as we believe and trust him.   I’m still learning every day.  Our problems change and through each problem, there is a new learning time.  Continue trusting God and obeying him.  Confess your doubts, your fears, and keep your hand in the hand of God.  Just as a small child wants to go off on his own, is in danger, so are we when we let go of God the Father’s hand to go do whatever we will.   God will chasten us because we belong to him. We need to fear him and turn back to him.  God says in…..

Revelations 3:19 - As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Read your bible, grow in the truth and knowledge of the Lord.  Stay close to your church family, go to church, continue in prayer and resist the devil.  Confess your sin on a daily basis, pray for each other.  We are all in a spiritual battle.  There is an old song that says, “Keep your hand in the hand of the man that calms the sea.”  If you continue by faith in the things of God, you will know peace and you will know joy.

Matthew 25:23
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
 Matthew 11:29
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Jesus In Our Heart - A Guide # 2

3 Leaf Clover / Saint Patricks Day

Jesus In Our Heart

Baptism is a picture of what happens to you when you become saved.  We without Christ are dead in our sins.  Separated from God.  Once a person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Something happens.  They become alive to God because Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit comes into their heart.

When we are baptized, we are emersed under the water, buried in the likeness of Christ, and arising to new life in Christ Jesus.  It is a testimony and an example, to all, that we have been saved and have become born to God as his dear child.  We were dead to God, but now, made alive unto God.

This is exactly what happens when we become born again. By faith, our sins are washed away.  The blood of Christ shed for us was applied upon the acceptance of Christ Jesus into our life.  We spiritually are risen into a new life and beginning.  We have been adopted into the family of God.

The Holy Spirit is Jesus in our hearts but is called the Comforter in scripture.   The comforter is with us and in us.  Jesus in our hearts.  We can pray and Jesus helps our feeble prayers, He speaks for us with perfect prayers even when we don’t know how to say what needs to be asked.  When you worship God, you can feel his presence with you.  He is there for you to help you through life’s troubles.

All acceptable good works are through Christ alone.  Our righteousness is as filthy rags to God.

Isaiah 64:6 ¶ But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.  Good works of any kind are excepted by people.  They are commended and looked up to.  People normally reward people for doing good things.  Many are known for their wonderful gift of charity.  However, God does not accept our goodness as righteousness but as filthy rags.  That is why the crown we receive in heaven will be laid at the feet of Christ.  Christ within us and his working through us is the only righteousness accepted by God.  Not of good that I have done, but only what Christ has done through us.  That only happens if we accept Christ and the shedding of his blood for our sins.

The Holy Spirit does not testify of himself, He testifies of Jesus.  This is why we pray in the name of Jesus Christ and do all things in Jesus Christ’s name.

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

 Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

God offers the gift of salvation to whoever wants it.

John 3:15 -17 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Jesus Talks about the Comforter

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26 ¶ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:7 ¶ Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Some lesson afterthoughts...

Jesus was baptized at thirty years old, as our example.  Not one baby was baptized by emersion or sprinkling in the bible.  Each person should understand what they are doing.  Baptism is the first step of obedience as a Christian.
