Hooty And Langly Need To Lose 40 Pounds

Hooty And Langly Need To Lose 40 Pounds

Narrator:
 Hooty The Owl has been out planting his garden today.  He has been on a strict diet. Dr. Owl told him He needs to lose 40 lbs.  So Hooty decided yesterday to plant a garden of herbs and vegetables.  Langly Bear, a nearby neighbor, is very curious as to what Hooty is doing and is on his way to visit him.

Hooty: ( To Audience)
 Hello everyone, I'm getting ready to till my garden.  I've been trying to eat healthier lately, after all it is the wise thing to do.  Before I start tilling my garden,  I want to talk to everyone  about losing weight.  I desperately need to lose 40 lbs, so I thought you all could hold me accountable  ... Oh look, there is my neighbor Langly,  He must have decided to visit today.

Langly Bear:  Hey Hooty How Are Youie?   I could hear you out here yesterday, trying to start the tiller.  Did you get it working?

Hooty,  I think so, I  was runnin' a little short on gas yesterday.  But  today I'm all set to go.
It's good to see you Langly, I would like to introduce you to all the people here in our studio audience.  We are having a discussion about gaining weight.   Hey, everybody say hi to Langly. ( Hi Langly)

Langly:  Hi everybody, I was thinkin' yesterday that I need to lose a 40 lbs myself.  I also was thinking what a bummer it is not to be able eat all the chocolate honey cake I want.  The good thing about dieting though, I can have all the trout I want.  I love trout and it's good for your brain.

Hooty: I was trying to find one thankful thing to say about gaining weight and believe it or not I did come up with some ideas.

Langly: I'd love to hear um, go for it.

Hooty:  Well, this may sound kind of silly, but I was thankful that when we gain weight it's in pretty reasonable areas.  You know some people gain weight in their stomach, or their legs.  I was thinking what if we only gained weight in our nose.  Wouldn't it be embarrassing to walk around with a huge 40lb nose.

Langly:  It would be very hard to look up that's for sure.  Just think if it were your whole head.  They'd have to call you wobble head. Ya, they'd say look their goes Hooty, looks like his head got too big.  Hee Hee

Hooty:  That's hilarious, but we really should never make fun of anyone who is overweight.  It's ok in the way we are talking about it right now though, but we should never make fun of anyone else.

It could be a hurt that takes a long time to heal.  My wise old mother always told me if you make fun of people it will one day come back to you in some way.

Langly: That's true, you know what I do to keep fit and trim.  I eat lots of berries.... berries and more berries. Being a bear and all we like to run and climb trees.  When I want to lose weight I put in some extra tree climbing, but no honey is aloud.

Hooty: No Honey! That's terrible.

Langly: Not even one paw lick....SAD!

Hooty: WHoooo ever thought it?  A bear with no honey?

Langly: Hay us bears gotta stay in shape, never know when tree climbin' will become
very important for survival. But when my rear gets in the way... it's time to do something about it.  No honey!

Hooty: Self control, that's the right way to go.  Eating right and exercise. God wants us to take care of ourselves.

Langly:  Better believe it.  Time to work up a sweat.  It's a long way to the top.  It might as well be Mount Everest.

Hooty: Well look at the bright side.. after you lose 40 pounds you'll look like a young bear and you can have a honey celebration.  Just for one day though.  You'll wanna stay fit and trim.

Langly: Okay enough talking....Honeyyyy a good incentive !   --  Jumping Jacks... 1, 2, 3, 4,  Come on hooty you tooo.
( Langly keeps county slowly in background) 5, 6,

Hooty:  Well looks like we got to get exercising....... 40  pounds could take a while... Then off to Till my garden.  It will be a work out!

See ya later boys and girls.   Hope you come to visit us again at the Who's Who Wise Shop.   Maybe you could help me come up with some new low fat seed recipes.

Well I better get jumpin'

Stage exit...

Narrator: Well we hope you enjoyed our visit with Hooty and Langly bear.  We learned today that God wants us to take care of ourselves and have self control in our daily living. Part of being the kind of wise person  that God wants us to be.  Is showing self control and being persistent.  We all have weaknesses in different areas of our lives and it is a constant battle we need to fight, The number one reason is because we are human .  God tells us however, in his Word to be Holy as he is Holy.  We know none of us our perfect but we are to strive for the mastery.  Just as we practice our music or art abilities, we need to be practicing self control and persistence. The more we practice these precepts with God's help and prayer.  The more we will gain control over our weaknesses.

As we read the Word of God take note: another word for self control is the word temperance

Our bible verses for today are..

2 Peter 1:5-8
....And beside this,giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Word: another word for self control is the word temperance

Who's Who Wiseshop - Puppet Show - Wisdom Theme

Props

Make Your Puppet Stage Look Like A Tree

You will need a microphone and a desk bell

Make A Paper Owl Puppet With
Card Stock And A Brown Paper Bag

I drew the tree and printed it out on cardstock using the tile option in my printer settings.  You can select which tiles you want printed.  If you need to add height to the tree just select a tile or two extra on a second printing.  It is very important to think before you cut anything.  Lay it all out then determine what needs to be trimmed away.  Trim and scotch tape all pieces from the back and use a clue stick on the front to secure the edges.  Place the tree to the one side of your puppet stage with dots of hot glue or stronger tape.

The Boxes Need To Be Doubled In Size Depending On Your Puppet Stage.. They Are A Little Too Small

The Lemon Of Bitterness - Puppet Show And Lesson - Restored August 19th, 2014

The Lemon Of Bitterness

( A Lesson On Bitterness)
Susan Y Nikitenko
May 13th, 2013
I Wrote The Puppet Show About 15 Years Ago
But This Lesson Was Written This Morning  -
Age: Junior Age And Up
This Lesson Can Be Modified For Younger Children
Puppet Props Needed:
2 lemons  - 1 cut in half
monkey mouth puppet

 ----------
Hello boys and girls,

Today I brought someone I think you will enjoy meeting.   His name is Charlie.   Charlie is such a busy little fellow.  He's always doing the funniest little things.   Charlie will be visiting us off and on during the year to help me teach you some valuable lessons about life.
Come on up here Charlie,

(Charlie pops up with a lemon in His mouth.  Charlie moves around being funny  like a monkey making monkey sounds,  but keeps the lemon in His mouth.)

Charlie has a little problem but He really doesn't even know it.   He has been holding on to a lemon all morning and He won't let it go.   The problem is he thinks the lemon he is holding is a banana.

Charlie,  I've told you that it's not a banana and if I give it to you,  you're not going to like it.

(Teacher tries to take the lemon from Charlie but he  won't let her. Just make sure it stays funny. )

Charlie,  I promise you that it is a lemon.  Do you want me to prove it to you?  (Charlie shakes His head yes)  Teacher has a lemon already cut in half in a plastic baggie.

I have a lemon I've cut in half. See it's the same as what you are holding in your mouth.  Here taste it.

(Charlie puts down the lemon in his mouth to taste the lemon she is holding in her hand)

(Charlie makes a sour face and makes funny reactions and sounds)

See Charlie, I told you, you wouldn't like it.  Here Charlie,  how about a banana?

(Charlie shakes his head  yes and happily plays with the banana and exits while the teacher starts to teach the  lesson.)

Today's lesson is about bitterness.  There  are many things in life that hurt us.  When hurts or disappointments happen in life we have a choice how to react to them.   When someone has hurt us or disappoints us we sometimes feel  angry.    We want to hold on to that anger,  just like Charlie held onto that lemon.  Anger in the heart can make one a very hard person and a very  unhappy person.   it puts an ugly expression on our face and silently kills our joy inside.  It robs us of being the best person we can be.

God doesn't want us to stay angry .  It doesn't mean He never wants us to be angry because anger is good when it's under control and used to make good decisions and making plans on fixing a problem,   but when anger makes you do something wrong  like holding a grudge, or gossiping, or hating, or hurting someone else to get even it becomes a very dangerous sin.
God doesn't  want us to go to bed with anger in our heart, He wants us to pray about our anger and forgive anyone who has hurt us or put whatever problem it is into His hands.  God knows that anger in someone's heart becomes bitterness.  The Bible describes bitterness as a root.   Anger grows like a tree and the longer it is left in the soil of our heart the deeper the root grows and the harder it is to dig out.

Bitterness causes bad attitudes that effect other people and it causes other people to be upset and to suffer around us.  Bitter people tend to strike out at the people that have been good to them.  Bitter people destroy themselves and the people they love.  They are hard to live with and they  don't even like themselves.
This is what bitterness left to grow starts to look like.

I'm glad Charlie decided the lemon didn't taste good.  We need to see that holding onto the lemon of bitterness.  Has to be dealt with before the sun goes down or the root will grow deeper into the good ground of our heart and it will grow like a weed choking out the happiness in our lives and also in the lives of those around us.
If we  have been having a hard time forgiving someone,  we know that we need to get that taken care of.   So let us bow our heads today and ask ourselves " Is there anyone I need to forgive?"
 If so, we need to make a decision with God's help just to let it go.  We need to confess the sin of unforgiveness  and to ask God to heal our hearts because bitterness hurts ourselves the most.

Dear Father In Heaven,
I have been very angry and I know it is wrong to stay angry.  Please do not let any root of bitterness take control of my  life and actions towards other people.  I know Father you have forgiven me even  though I have not deserved any of your mercy.  I want you to use my life for your honor and glory.  I know I cannot stay angry and be completely be used of you.  Forgive me Lord and give me the grace to forgive and love others the way you would have me to do.

In Christ name I pray, Amen
Scripture References:

Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

 Heb 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Poem Suggestion : Let Go

 Let Go

Children's  Poem
Funny little monkey;
Climbing in the tree.
Finds a different coconut;
It has a hole you see.

He peeks inside and sniffs.
Mmm, it smells sooo good.
He sticks his little hand inside;
Just like a monkey would.

He finds a yummy treat.
He holds to it, real tight.
When he pulls to bring it out;
He pulls, he jerks, he fights.

Funny little monkey;
He's stuck, he can't get free.
Determined now, to keep the treat;
He won't let go you see.

Funny little monkey;
Trapped in a hunter's snare.
Doesn't see the danger;
And is taken unaware.

Listen, children listen.
Don't let sin keep your hold.
Trapped your life is useless;
When in bondage you are sold.

Let go and let the Lord;
Give strength in sins attempt.
To take away your freedom;
Just like this little chimp.

Christmas Is All About Christ - Restored August 17th, 2014

Christmas Is All About Christ

Miss Busy: Kacee, Kacee, Kacee, I have another question. Can you help me?
Kacee: Sure, Miss Busy. What is it? I am always happy to answer your questions and help.
Miss Busy: Well I’m confused, what is Christmas really all about? All my friends talk about shopping and giving presents. They tell me it is ALLLLL about the presents. Whoever gets the biggest, bestest, most expensive gift has the best Christmas ever! They tell me that if their parents don’t get what they want for Christmas they would be so unhappy. I mean is it all about presents, dazzling lights, Christmas trees, snow, and delicious food? I mean I LOVE…just ABSOLUTELY LOVE Christmas cookies and ham and ooooo everything about Christmas! But there has to be more to Christmas than that!
Kacee: You’re right Miss Busy. Christmas is more than that. Christmas is the birthday of a King. Yes, giving presents is nice, so is pretty lights, Christmas trees, snow and yummy Christmas cookies. But….Christmas is all about Christ. Look at the first 6 letters of Christmas and what do you find?
Miss Busy: Hmmmmm C-H-R-I-S-T Ohhhhhh Christ! It spells Christ.
Kacee: That’s right Miss Busy. Jesus was sent to this world in a form of a Baby. He was born in a manger in a stable many years ago.
Miss Busy: Yeah, just like the manger scene display they have at church.
Kacee: Do you know why Jesus came to earth Miss Busy?
Miss Busy: Well, I know Jesus came to earth to die on the cross for our sins so we could go to heaven one day.
Kacee: That’s exactly right. Now Christmas is when we celebrate the birthday of Jesus. It really isn’t about all those presents. It is only about one gift…that is the gift of salvation. Jesus has a special gift for anyone who will receive it. He came to this world to die on the cross to pay a price we could not pay for our sins. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Do you know what ALL means Miss Busy?
Miss Busy: Well, EVERYTHING….EVERYONE.
Kacee: That’s right, All…everyone has sinned according to the Word of God. Our sin separates us from God. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death...” Wages is something we earn, so it is saying that because of our sin we deserve death, that is a spiritual death in hell.
Miss Busy: That’s not the end of the verse…I’ve heard this one at church. …”The wages of sin is death BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Kacee: Very good Miss Busy. Yes, this Christmas God has a gift for you. That is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. This is talking about heaven. The only way to receive this gift is through Jesus Christ. We must know we have sinned, ask the Lord to forgive us our sins, and believe that He died on the cross and rose again.
Miss Busy: Oh yes, the Bible says in Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Kacee: You probably know this verse too Miss Busy. John 3:16. Will you say it with me?
Miss Busy: Sure thing.
Miss Busy and Kacee: “For God so love the world that He gave His only Begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Kacee: See Miss Busy, Christmas is all about Christ and His gift of salvation.
Miss Busy: Thank-you Kacee. It is so easy to forget the real meaning of Christmas. I am going to tell all my friends about the true meaning of Christmas and Jesus’s special gift He has for them this Christmas. I might make Em’ some Christmas cookies too because I LOOOOVE Christmas cookies. Yummmm! Bye.
Kacee: Have you accepted this gift of salvation? If not, just pray to the Lord and mean it with your heart, ask him to forgive you of your sins, tell Him you believe He died on that cross just for you and rose again. Ask Him to be the savior of your life this Christmas. He will save you. Don’t delay accept this gift today.
