Lesson 2: Silent Flight
Character Trait: Humility (Doing Good Quietly)
KJV Scripture: "And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;" — 1 Thessalonians 4:11
The Story of Silas the Snowy Owl
In the frozen tundra where the snow stays white all year, lived Silas the Snowy Owl. While other birds like the geese honked loudly as they flew, and the hawks screamed from the cliffs to show their strength, Silas moved like a drifting cloud.
Silas had a special gift: Silent Flight. His feathers were soft and fringed at the edges, designed by God to swallow the sound of the wind. When he flew, not even a mouse could hear him coming. Silas didn't need to make a loud noise to be a great hunter; he simply did what he was made to do, quietly and skillfully.
Sometimes, we want everyone to see the good things we do. We might want to "honk" like the goose when we help a friend or "scream" like the hawk when we obey our parents. But the Bible tells us that there is great beauty in being quiet. Just as Silas catches his prize without a sound, a "skillful" Christian does good works because they love God, not because they want a round of applause from people.
When we serve others without bragging, we are flying "silently" like Silas. We are letting God get the glory instead of ourselves.
Character Lesson
Quiet Service: Look for ways to help around the house without being asked or noticed.
Humility: Realize that our talents come from God, so we don't need to boast about them.
Focus: Like Silas, stay focused on the task God gave you rather than who is watching you.
KJV Memory Verse: "Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger,
and not thine own lips." — Proverbs 27:2
